Tell us how the transport came together?
Robyn got us signed up. I had not done any pupoy-runs for a while due to my caretaking my wife. She got a rescue CAT, got scratched, inflammation, re-do knee surgery…. no fun. I needed the trip!
Were there any memorable moments from this transport?
I drove from Durham(home) to Greensboro in my Prius, getting almost 70 mpg. (Drove the minimum going there.) Plenty of time at the Cracker Barrel to prepare the final car stuff. The previous driver was early, but we had to give the pups some “wander time.” It took 20 minutes with all 7 pups!
What could have made this transport better?
I’m glad I like evening driving, since I pulled out of the lot at 11:10 pm. Knowing the pups were probably wiped after a full day of T&T (travel and transfer), I raced back to Durham (overnight) proto! Much faster speed, much lower mpg.
Tell us about your passenger/s (behavior, demeanor, etc)?
They were tired, but one was slightly whiny. They are 8 weeks old, so understandable. I just wish they were not split 5 and 2. The five were bigger, so more “cozy.”
Why did you take this transport, what compelled you to help?
My stepson had his adopted dog flown back via Puppy Rescue Mission, and my wife began shuttle-legs soon after. Now that I’m retired, I can spend more time getting animals to their foster homes or owners.
