Robyn is amazing, this was the second time we attempted this transport. It all came down to the last minute but Robyn made it happen. 30 Legs with several of us picking up 2-3 legs driving for 2-3 hours one way. Only to turn around and drive home another 2-3 hours. But I wouldn’t have turned this down for anything. Love helping and being a part of Doobert and all the great rescue organizations.
Were there any memorable moments from this transport?
Oh yes, if you want to call it that. We almost made it to our transfer and one pup decided its time to stop and take a potty break. We were 1 exit away and he couldn’t hold it, so poor baby went in the crate. That’s okay, it happens. Luckily I keep a full transport kit with everything in it for those emergencies.
What could have made this transport better?
Having more people to help out and avoid the long drives for so many of us. My transfer person also had to drive 2.5 hours south just to help out. It’s not often this happens, and so grateful for all those who made it happen.
Tell us about your passenger/s (behavior, demeanor, etc)?
5 of the sweetest pups. Although it was originally a Mom and 4 pups, the Mom had gone a week ahead and it was actually 5 pups. I will say the foster mom of these 5 pups was amazing and they were the most well-mannered pups I’ve transported. So cuddly and sweet. They slept or relaxed but never cried or barked.
Why did you take this transport, what compelled you to help?
Was the second attempt and wanted to help these little guys get to their furever home. I didn’t mind taking the extra legs. Happy to do what I can.
