Odessa came to our county shelter back in January in VERY poor condition. She was skin and bones, covered in fleas and nursing 6 puppies. She was a phenomenal mom who gave her puppies the very best care despite her poor condition. We were able to adopt out ALL of her pups. While she was at the shelter, we discovered that Odessa plays amazingly with other dogs. In fact, she was a 'rockstar' in playgroups, meaning we actually used her to temp test other dogs. Since February, Odessa has been living in a foster home. She is incredible with kids (which makes sense consider her awesome motherly instincts)! Her human foster brother and sister who are 4 and 6 years old ADORE her. Check out the cute picture of her giving her foster brother a kiss! Odessa also lives successfully with a 6 and 8 year old dog. No issues at all. Her foster family has even gotten her potty trained and crate trained. She is truly one amazing pup. Unfortunately, we noticed Odessa runs with a bunny hop. The vet believes she has bilateral luxating patellas (grade 4) and likely needs corrective surgery on both legs. She is also Heartworm Positive. ☹ We even had an adopter VERY interested in her, but they just couldn’t take on the financial responsibilities. We KNOW we need to help Odessa. She deserves a chance at an amazing life. Unfortunately, the ARC receives no funding medical care, and we just realistically cannot cover all of the care Odessa needs. Pooch Saver's Rescue Group has stepped up to take care of all the treatment needed to help Odessa! We just need to get her from the Houston Area to Dallas!
