Transport Details

Gizmo is a 55lb Australian Cattle Dog. He has struggled in the shelter environment so we have found placement for him with a foster-based rescue in Seattle, WA. The rescue's associate is able to meet a transporter in Portland, OR. We would love to get Gizmo to his new accommodations as soon as possible! Our shelter will crate Gizmo for the journey and the rescue will unload once the destination is reached. ***TRANSPORTATION DATE IS FLEXIBLE****

Tell us how the transport came together?
I received an email alert that a transport was needed through my area and was able to sign up for one of the legs.
Were there any memorable moments from this transport?
This was my first transport and all the other volunteers I interacted with were great! Gizmo was just the sweetest boy and I know that this will help make his life a bit less stressful.
What could have made this transport better?
There was a gap in the transport legs that I noticed so the coordinator had to scramble to get someone last minute.
Tell us about your passenger/s (behavior, demeanor, etc)?
Gizmo was so sweet. He just let you pick him up to get in and out of the crate in the car and was very interested in affection. I'm sure he would've sat in my lap during the drive if he had been given the option, haha.
Why did you take this transport, what compelled you to help?
I just want to make dog's lives better and if that means a little bit of gas money and time, then that's what I'll do. We don't deserve dogs.

Gizmo’s travels

Gizmo, a cattle dog is a very sweet boy that my husband and I picked up in Ashland, Or. which was the 4th leg in his travels from Sacramento, California to Portland, Oregon.

We traveled with this sweet boy to Coburg, Or. to connect to his last leg. He was such a great passenger.

Having two rescues myself it is important to save these dogs.

Gizmo transport

Tell us how the transport came together?
I provided the first leg of the journey beginning at the Sacramento SPCA. I was met right on time in Red Bluff, CA for a smooth transition to the next driver. The ultimate destination was a foster family near Portland.
Were there any memorable moments from this transport?
Gizmo was said to be leery of strangers and anxious. However, I was rewarded with a doggie kiss when we parted.
What could have made this transport better?
Everything went well.
Tell us about your passenger/s (behavior, demeanor, etc)?
Gizmo was quiet and comfortable in his crate.
Why did you take this transport, what compelled you to help?
It was in my geographical area. Who wouldn’t want to help an animal in need?
